Hockey Season is upon us!

Fall is the start of the hockey season, and time for other indoor sports like basketball which help keep you in shape over the coming winter, for recreational pursuits (like skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, or hockey).

Our Sports section has lots of good information about many sports, and our event calendar includes the schedule for the local professional and/or Junior A hockey teams.

Sault Ste Marie was founded because of it strategic location smack in the middle of the Great Lakes. Some original land titles for the area, signed by Samuel de Champlain, still reside in Quebec City.

The locks moved larger ships past the rapids. The Canadian locks are now a national historic site, and the American locks operate as part of the St Lawrence Seaway.
