Homes: Sault Ste. Marie Area neighbourhoods: East of Great Northern Rd
[ Other Neighbourhoods | East Neighbourhoods Map ] This part of Sault Ste Marie lies east of Great Northern Rd and north of Wellington St and Trunk Rd, and has much of the city's green space and recreational areas. This part of town includes the neighbourhoods of The P Patch (with all street names begin with 'p') Huckerson Corners, Cedar Heights and Manitou Park. This part of Sault Ste Marie is relatively new, with most homes built after the 60s and 70s. If offers a range of affordable mid-priced homes as well as some higher priced homes in some of the rural acreages. The homes in the P Patch are quite desirable. There is a new development in the north, near the Wal-Mart store. Schools This area has 5 elementary schools (including one Catholic), and high school students either go to nearby Alexander Henry High School on Northern Ave. and Catholic students attend Mt St Joseph College on Ontario Ave. Sault College is also in the community, and Algoma College is nearby, south of Trunk Rd. The area's closest library is in Churchill Plaza. 
Shopping Great Northern Rd has Sault Ste Marie's cluster of big box stores. Cambrian Mall and Pine Plaza are in the community and Kmart Plaza. Churchill Plaza and the larger Wellington Square Mall lie just outside the area. Downtown is about a kilometre away. 
Recreation This part of Sault Ste Marie has lots of greenspace and is home to the large Strathclair Park, as well as further north, Wishart Park and the Crystal Creek Conservation Area/ Community Map
